Meet the experts behind Street Futsal

Name: Chris Devine
Chris has been involved in Futsal in Scotland, Italy, Croatia and Australia where he trained, played and coached at various levels of the game.
Chris graduated with a BSC (Hons) Degree in Sports Development and prior to this achieved an HND in Sports Coaching and Development in Football Studies.
He is qualified in Futsal with the CBFS (Brazilian Football Confederation) which was lead by Marcos Sorato (World Cup Winning Coach with Brazil Futsal National team).
Chris started the sessions in 2013 with the aim of helping young players play with freedom while being creative and skilled on the ball.
Chris has since created the Street Futsal training programme which has emphasis on the players being creative, having fun and learning valuable skills to improve their game.
Chris aims for Street Futsal to create a UK wide structure for young people to show creativity, high technical ball skills in a fun player centred environment while taking into consideration Street Football and Freestyle style of playing.
If we can do this we can create highly skilled young players who can find their love for the ball and practice while standing out in games may it be organised Futsal/Football club games or in the park with their mates.
Chris is always looking to get the best people involved with this project and it is not easy finding the right people to lead sessions like these. However we have some fantastic people involved who are planning and executing quality sessions every week around the country.

Name: Nicola Fernando
Location: ON MATERNITY LEAVE BACK SOON
I graduated with a Bachelor of Art Honours degree in Sports Coaching and Development in 2019. From a very young age I have always been interested in sport.
In high school I completed the Renfrewshire School of Sport which gave me a huge insight into the coaching world which then led me to start volunteering as a coach when I was 16 years old and from that point, I knew this is what I wanted to do as a career.
When I started coaching I coached within a variety of different sports which I feel has given me a wider experience of coaching. Now my focus is on the Football/Futsal side of the industry and with my strong background in sport education I offer a professional, fun learning environment at my Paisley sessions.
Joining the Street Futsal team allowed me to receive good quality training and allowed me to develop my coaching career further.
I run the Renfrewshire Futsal sessions and really enjoy coaching the young players that attend each week. My sessions are fast paced and fun. My aim is to really challenge the players to push themselves to do the best they can! I really love seeing how quickly the players progress and to be part of developing future players is a fantastic feeling.

Name: Kieran Dougan
Location:
Hello everyone, I am Kieran and I have been coaching since 2013 and I have experience of coaching in America where I was a camp counsellor within New Jersey & New York. I have also coached with a number of organisations in Scotland.
I graduated from Glasgow University with an honours degree in Sports Coaching and Development in 2018. Several years of studying the theory and practical side of coaching has allowed me to gain a deep insight into player development.
I feel Futsal gives children the opportunity to showcase their skills and develop creativity that they can use as they progress in the game. The sessions are hugely beneficial to the area and allow players to learn things they aren’t trying anywhere else.
Any questions please feel free to contact me at: kierandougan@streetfutsal.co.uk or approach me at class.

Hi everyone,
Name: Orla & Jim
Location: Paisley
We are Jim and Orla and we are father and daughter and have been working together as coaches for a number of years. We have always both had a passion for football with us playing, coaching and watching any type of football the TV.
I (Orla) have played since I was about 4/5 years old. I played for many different clubs, which include Motherwell, Celtic and St Mirren. I now want to help children enjoy the game but also develop their skills and technique to improve
their game.
Jim has played since the 80s and won some competitions as a player-manager. Jim created and managed a team which concluded of his friends and people he worked with and he took them to various tournaments and events to compete. As I started to play, Jim decided to start coaching. As I got older I started to help Jim coach and fell in love with teaching children new things.
We love helping children fall in love with the game like us but we really love watching
children developing over a period of time. It feels rewarding to see as a coach. Implementing the Street Futsal programme will allow us to help develop children in a fun creative environment. We cannot wait to give children the
chance to try fun and unique skills from Football, Futsal and Street Football.
We both have several coaching awards with the SFA and we want to further develop
this side of our coaching.
If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to either of us at a class or send an email at: orlaturner@streetfutsal.co.uk

I have currently obtained my 1.2 level SFA coaching badge with the intent to progress further.
I got into coaching due to my love of football and have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a coach. I find it rewarding to pass on the knowledge and skills to the younger generation and believe it is necessary to do so.

Hello, my name is Robyn,
I played football for many years with a variety of clubs such as Ayr United, Kilwinning and Clarkdrive however for the the last 5 plus years I have focused on the coaching side of the game.
I have a vast experience in coaching and started in 2014 where I volunteered at various clubs to gain vital experience to help improve my coaching. I came in 2nd place for volunteer of the year in 2018.
I recently coached in America as an assistant soccer coach/cabin councillor in Massachusetts. A fantastic experience coaching at the girls academy.
I graduated University with a bachelor of science in sports coaching in 2023. Completing this course at University has given me a deeper insight into developing young players. I have 1.1-1.3 SFA coaching badges for both children and adults. Also part of my C licence for adults.
I started coaching because I wanted to learn both sides of the game while helping develop children and importantly help them fall in love with the game. My favourite part of coaching is watching young children developing weekly. With the Street Futsal programme we will see huge developments.
My sessions are always fun and I want to make sure every player has a smile on their face. Its important to engage and challenge the players to help take their game to the next level.

Hi Everyone my names Josh and I run the sessions in Ayrshire.
I have a real passion for Football/Futsal both as a player and a coach, I started playing football when I was around 4 years old and my love has continued to grow for the game. Futsal gives children a great opportunity to practice and enhance their football skills and I’m grateful to be able to support them in becoming a better player.
My coaching philosophy is that every child no matter what their experience should be able to complete and take part in sports and because of this I will always try to get everyone involved and find a way they can enjoy themselves!
I started coaching young children and moved up the age groups, all the way to adults which has now given me a variety of experience with all ages.
